WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Sachse baseball, softball each pick up two wins in tournament play

With district play fast approaching, both the Sachse baseball and softball teams had busy weekends competing in their respective tournaments.
The Mustang baseball team posted a 2-1-1 record at the Naaman Forest Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Sachse started strong win an impressive rally that saw them score three times in the sixth inning to come back for a 5-4 win over Plano.
Later on Friday, Josh Lewis struck out five in six innings of work to lead the team to an 11-0 rout of Duncanville. Koltain Leszcynski had a huge game with a triple and five runs batted in, while Jeremy Hadley also tripled and drove in three.
The Mustangs were not as fortunate on Saturday, starting with a 4-3 loss to Mesquite. Enna had two hits and an RBI, while Williams and Kent Myers also plated runs but it was not enough.
Sachse's tournament ended with a 5-5 tie against Wylie East. Trevone Stewart had three hits and Williams drove in a pair of runs.
The Mustang softball team went 2-3 at the Mesquite ISD Invitational. They got off to a rough start on Friday with a pair of losses. Mikala Douglas, Emilee McDonald and Shanna McBroom all had RBIs in a 7-4 loss to Mansfield Legacy. Douglas then had three of the team's six hits, but they did not turn into runs in an 8-0 loss to Horn.
Sachse fared better on Saturday, defeating Molina and then cruising to a 12-2 rout of Mesquite. McDonald led the way with four hits and three runs batted in. Bailey Parker, who got the win on the mound, helped her own cause with three hits while Rachel Rogers had two hits and a pair of RBIs.
