Great music plus great weather creates a great time: Me and My Monkey kick off annual Plaza Music Series

Me and My Monkey, a band that plays a tribute to the Beatles, performed before a large crowd in the plaza behind Coppell City Hall Saturday night. It was the first of the annual Plaza Music Series which takes place on Saturday nights during September.

If ever the cliche, "A good time was had by all," was fitting, it was about Saturday night when hundreds of people gathered in folding chairs, on quilts and blankets or just sat on the ground to enjoy some beautiful music from the past in the plaza behind Coppell City Hall.
Me and My Monkey, a band featuring music reminiscent of the Beatles, wowed the crowd as the sun set at the end of one of the coolest days of the year since last spring. For the older folks in the crowd, it brought back pleasant memories of the music of the 1960s, and for the younger crowd it was an education in what musical entertainment was way back when.
It was the kickoff for the city of Coppell's annual Plaza Music Series. A different band is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Saturday through September.
The Coppell Parks and Recreation Department offers free popcorn at the events, and a flavored ice is sold by a vendor. Families are invited to bring their own picnic baskets.
