JONES
Rawleigh Eugene "Gene" Jones was born in Snyder, TX on September 26, 1928.
He passed away in Plano, TX on July 24, 2012.He was born to Rawleigh Legrange Jones and Minnie Cuba Littlefoot Jones, the youngest of six children.
After leaving the service, he re-enrolled in McMurray and received his BS in 1950. He eventually received his Masters.
He taught and coached in several small towns in Texas, coached for 10 years in Clint, TX, then HS Principal in Canutillo, TX, and HS Principal in Socorro, TX. He retired May 1984, but taught part time at Socorro for several years. Gene worked several years at Waddell & Reed and Pension Planners of W. TX as a financial planner after his retirement from education. Gene moved to Allen, TX in 1997, and lived at Emeritus at Creekside in Plano, TX from March 2011 until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Olafay J. Jones of Allen, TX; older brother, John Jones (Betty) of Huntington Beach, CA; daughters, Peggy Jones (Frank Vecchio), Pacific Grove, CA and Terri Ringlee of Ruidoso, NM; son, Jerry Jones of Ruidoso, NM; stepdaughter, Luanne Stout (Gordon) of Arlington, TX; stepson, Dean Riley of Plano, TX; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and several nephews, cousins and many friends including his beloved roommate for the last 15 months, Chaplain Lane Park who watched over Gene until the very last.
Many thanks to all the staff at Emeritus for the loving care they provided, and at the end, the watchful care of Hospice Plus.
In lieu of floral remembrances we request donations made to Alzheimer's Association, Hospice Plus or to Texas Health Presbyterian Foundation.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Home, 19310 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75252. Memorial Service will be held August 17th at 11 a.m., at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
