Homeowners with lawn irrigation systems are sometimes at a loss to understand exactly when and how much to water.

The McKinney Office of Environmental Stewardship (OES) has scheduled two free seminars for people who want to learn the latest about sprinkler systems.

The first is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Community Room of the Tennis & Beach Club at Stonebridge Ranch, located at 6201 Virginia Pkwy. in McKinney.

The second is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 28, at Craig Ranch, at 7850 Collin McKinney Pkwy., Suite 302.

Both seminars are in July, which has been designated as Smart Irrigation Month.

Seminar attendees will learn how to conserve water with a current sprinkler system, learn about the latest irrigation technology, learn how to improve overall sprinkler system efficiency and to enhance the landscape, and learn of current rebates available for retrofitting a sprinkler system with ET controllers and rain/freeze sensors.

There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged. Those interested may register online at www.mckinneytexas.org/green.

For information, call Julie Smith, OES manager, at 972-547-7616, or Martha Cavazos Fipps, OES environmental education coordinator, at 972-547-7335.
