Texas Rangers host LHS choir
From staff reports
On May 14, Lewisville High School's choirs were special guests of the Texas Rangers. The choir took the field to sing the national anthem and then enjoyed watching the Rangers win 13-6 over the Los Angeles Angels of Aneheim. This is the second consecutive year the LHS choirs have performed the anthem at a Rangers game. They were chosen to perform by the Rangers based on submitted recordings.
"It really is a great experience," director Steve DeCrow said. "Some kids never get the chance to go to a professional baseball game, much less stand out on the field and sing! I am always very proud of how our kids represent LHS."
Coincidentally, several LISD employees were at the game and emailed in their praises.
Some of the current LHS choir members once attended Huffines Middle School (HFMS).
"I was at the game and they all did great," HFMS teacher David Strider said. "Some of the members are from HFMS and I want to say keep up the good work. We're proud of you and go Rangers."
This year, the choirs received the UIL's highest possible honor, the Sweepstakes award. They have also performed at Medical Center of Lewisville and brought holiday cheer to many area retirement homes.
