Fallon wins Republican nomination for newly created House seat

Published: Tuesday, May 29, 2012 11:02 PM CDT
Population growth in Denton County resulted in the creation of a new state House seat, and on Tuesday voters decided who would likely be the first person to represent an area that includes the Denton County portions of Plano and Frisco, as well as The Colony and Little Elm and other smaller communities.

Former Frisco City Councilman Pat Fallon defeated former Lewisville ISD Trustee Amber Fulton in the Republican Primary by a margin of 71 percent to 29 percent. With no Democratic challenger, the win likely sealed Fallon's place in Austin when the 83rd Legislature takes office in January.

"Obviously we are elated," Fallon said. "I want to be careful about the pronouns because in any race it is more about the 'we and us' than it is the 'I and me.' We had a wonderful team and we made a decision early on that we wanted to be positive. We wouldn't skirt the issues, but we wouldn't go negative, personal and petty."

Fallon said he enjoyed knocking on more than 3,000 doors and visiting the 19 communities in District 106, and said the district is full of great conservative Texans and he is proud to be their representative on the November ballot.

Prior to this year, no Frisco resident had ever served in the Texas House. However, with Fallon's victory, as well as the victory of Scott Turner in state House District 33, the city of 126,000 will now have two of the 150 House representatives during the 2013 legislative session.

Fulton could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
