Gene W. Evans, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 11, 2012 at the age of 75.
He was born September 19, 1936 in Melissa, Texas to William Elbert and Edna Vermillion Evans.Gene grew up on the family farm and attended school in Melissa and Anna.
Gene enjoyed camping in Colorado with his family and friends. He was an avid dry-fly fisherman and enjoyed teaching others his skill.
Gene was a devoted Christian and a deacon in the church. He taught a Bible Study class and enjoyed working with the youth in the church. He was an active member of Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church until his health declined.
Gene was married to Glenda Lovelady Evans for 56 years.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda; sons, James William Evans and wife, Lenore of Allen, Texas, Danny Bruce Evans and wife, Kathy of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel, Matthew and his wife, Rebecca, Jared and Charlie, Robert, John and Makaylee; brothers, Dr. James W. "Bob" Evans and wife, Patsy of Allen, Texas and Troy Evans of Fort Worth, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edna Evans; brothers, Royce, Paul, Cleo, Plese, John Isaac, Wayne, W.E., Jack and William (Billy); sisters, Louise Raley and Ruby Hathcock.
Funeral services were held at noon, Monday, May 14, 2012 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Dr. James W. "Bob" Evans officiating. The family received friends during a visitation on Sunday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
