Chris Cordova, a recent Frisco High School graduate, was named the 2012 American Midwest Conference (AMC) Freshman Pitcher of the Year after his Missouri Baptist University baseball team won the AMC Championships in a 9-7 win on Thursday May 3rd in Springfield, Illinois. Cordova played baseball for the Frisco High Raccoons under Coach Scott Cook from 2007 until he graduated in 2010. During his time at Frisco High, Cordova was voted MVP by his team during his junior year and was voted 2nd Team All District Pitcher and in the top 100 Pitchers in DFW as a senior.
After graduating Frisco High, Cordova was accepted at Missouri Baptist University and joined the Missouri Baptist Spartan baseball team. The Missouri Baptist Spartans move next to the NAIA Opening Round of the National Championship Tournament in Cleveland, Tennessee this Thursday, May 10th.
Earlier this spring, Chris Cordova had dedicated his season to his friend and Spartan teammate Clayton Pfeiffer who was tragically killed in February by a wrong way driver one morning before baseball practice. After receiving the award last week, Cordova stated, It was all for you Clay, we love you and would do anything to have you back.
