UNT to host first ever Students For Liberty conference
From staff reports
On Saturday, the University of North Texas Young Americans for Liberty will host the 2011 Students For Liberty Dallas Regional Conference at the University of North Texas. The all-day event will bring together more than 100 students to hear from top pro-liberty speakers, network and share ideas about how best to run and promote liberty-oriented student groups on their college campuses.
Students are standing up and taking the lead in the fight for personal and economic freedom. The average young person is fiscally conservative and socially liberal, and many are identifying with libertarianism. However, the key is not just that there are more libertarian students; it is that they have finally organized. The group is working to educate and coordinate their fellow students to work together in building a robust student movement for liberty.
Speakers at the event include Larry Reed, president of the Foundation for Economic Education, and Sheldon Richman, author of "Separating School & State: How to Liberate America's Families." There will also be topic and activism break-out sessions, a student leadership panel and free books.
Students For Liberty is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a unified, student-driven forum of support for students and student organizations dedicated to liberty.
