Plano celebrates National Day of Prayer
By Stephanie Flemmons, Staff Writer
A group of Judeo-Christians gathered at Plano City Hall to celebrate National Day of Prayer as an annual observance the first Thursday of May.
“This is our expression of prayer,” said Roy Frady, Pastor of Willow Creek Fellowship. “All people should gather and pray. This is the symbol of the feat of our local government. We are privileged to come here and pray for them at the place they work.”
Among those recognized included emergency dispatch, fire department, police department, mayor, school district, city council, economic development, Parks and Recreation, city manger’s office and planning.
According to the National Day of Prayer Web site, the day was established to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families.
Plano’s Multicultural Outreach Roundtable organized a separate event to take place in the council chambers that night.
MCOR designed the event, inviting people of all religions to pray together. According to their Web site, they believe in which is “one of inclusivity.”
Frady said some Judeo-Christians choose to participate in the night city-sponsored event as well.
“You usually don’t have mixed religions pray together because of different views,” Frady said. “[The Interfaith event] is the official sanction held by the city with Hindus, Muslims, Jewish, Christians and more.”
Frady said at the night event, prayer is focused on the national and federal government.

why cannot this issue be printed
correctly?
The Mayor Evans only attended the
evening event, not the noon affair.
She only gave a proclaimation to the
evening meeting. Why is this?
Does City Hall prescribe only certain
religion? What is going on here needs
to be cleaned up!!
This Mayor cannot get out of the door
soon enough!! She has done favors to
only a certain part of the citizens. "
