Lewisville, Highland Village council candidates list goals

Decision day is drawing near for registered voters in the May 9 city council and Lewisville ISD school board elections.
Early voting by personal appearance will take place April 27-May 5. Early voting will take place at Lewisville City Hall at 151 Church Street, and at the Lewisville Municipal Annex at 1197 W. Main Street.
Lewisville voters may cast their ballots early at either of those two locations. On Election Day, however, they must vote in their own precinct, which may be at city hall, Municipal Annex or Memorial Park.
Early voting in Lewisville and Highland Village will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 27-May 1, and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 4-5. Also, Lewisville voters may cast early ballots between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2.

Following is a glance at the candidates running for city council seats in Lewisville and Highland Village:

Mayor
Name: Winston Edmondson
Occupation: Business development consultant
Goals: To give the government back to the people, which means taking the tough issues they're concerned about, like illegal immigration, head on.
Quotable: "`Experience and commitment makes a difference’ is a great tagline, but citizens want, and should demand, specific ideas and solutions that are relevant to Lewisville, like the ones I have posted on www.electWinston.com.”
Name: Dean Ueckert
Occupation: Insurance agent - 29 years
Goals: Keeping our tax rate low while making sure we maintain: our water, sewer, street infrastructure; excellent police force combating all illegal activities including illegal immigration; fire department and code enforcement protecting, revitalizing our neighborhoods; economic development building new tax base.
Quotable: “Leadership, experience and commitment make a difference, and my involvement in our city boards, city council, youth organizations, schools, churches, boards of charitable organizations, hospital and chamber of commerce over 25 years is testimony to my commitment and dedication to Lewisville.”

Occupation: Banking
Goals: To continue to serve you with integrity, experience, passion and leadership that makes our community a premier city in which to live, work, and play as well as to make positive changes for our quality of life.

Occupation: Regional sales account executive
Goals: Improve our economic development opportunities on I-35 and DCTA Rail line, Renew the expiring Lewisville 10-Year-Plan, improve ordinance enforcement, effectively manage our reduced budget to keep taxes low, and improve neighborhood outreach.
Quotable: “Lewisville needs someone who can manage lean budgets and drive development to ensure Lewisville is first among equals. A rising tide will provide more neighborhood renewal dollars and create an I-35 corridor we are proud to call our front porch.”
Name: John Gorena
Occupation: IT Consultant and owner of JMG Enterprises
Goals: To use our tax dollars as wisely as possible, to increase the quality of life, and to bring economic advantage back to the citizens of Lewisville.
Quotable: “I am concerned about all the issues that affect Lewisville. Some of the most important issues are revitalization, taxes, and illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is a pressing issue among the people because it impacts other issues. We must do something!”
Name: Margie Rochelle
Occupation: Retired city of Lewisville employee, serving 21 years to my community, currently a Medical Billing Specialist for Texas Knee & Sports Medicine in Carrollton.
Goals: To represent ALL the citizens of Lewisville, by working together, to maintain the quality of life we enjoy, facing new challenges ahead and providing a positive role model for my daughter by demonstrating what it means to serve her community, to have a voice and be heard.

Place 3
Name: Jeannetta Collier
Occupation: Real estate broker
Goals: To explore and implement all possible opportunities for Highland Village to maintain steady forward progress with the ultimate end goal being the shared vision of our citizens knowing that Highland Village is always the best it can possibly be in all areas.
Quotable: "`Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.’ ~ Winston Churchill. Those are words I believe in and that will serve me well as a representative of all Highland Village citizens on council.”
Name: Charlotte Wilcox
Occupation: Realtor
Goals: To help Highland Village continue to be the safest city in North Texas, to promote effective communication by being accessible, and to be accountable to all the residents of Highland Village.
Quotable: “My vision for Highland Village is for people to choose to live, raise their family, work, play and retire here, and where their children’s children will want to do the same.”

Name: Patrick L. Davis
Occupation: Educator, retired corporate executive
Goals: My goal is to see that Highland Village continues to progress economically while sustaining the image, character and personality of our community.

Name: Bill Meek
Occupation: owner of insurance business after 35 years of Naval service
Goals: To ensure that Highland Village continues to move forward with conservative, balanced progress; once residential build out is met, we cannot become stagnant but must embrace future changes with the same enthusiasm that has made Highland Village the premier community that it is today
Quotable: “Don't say ‘we can't,’ but rather say ‘what will it take to get it done?’ I offer years of management skills, team building and the ability to make difficult decisions regardless of my personal opinion. I have the time, I have the enthusiasm and I have the abilities to serve my fellow citizens as their Place 7 representative on council.”
Name: Bill P. Towe
Occupation: President/CEO n BlueLine Services, LLC.
Goals: As a city council member, I hope to effectively grow the fiscal strength and position of Highland Village by working with the new and existing local businesses and infrastructure, thus facilitating continued healthy growth and stability, while preserving the natural elegance that is Highland Village.
