Softball: 'Off Day' costs Farmers
BY JUSTIN THOMAS, Staff writer
Lewisville softball coach Lori Alexander said the Farmers had “an off day” Friday as the team lost to Sulphur Springs, 10-1, in their third game of the Frisco ISD Tournament.
Lewisville was out-hit, 9-2, and were hampered by a few errors in the field.
Thursday, the Farmers split a pair of games.
However, Lewisville’s bats woke up later in the afternoon as the Farmers pounded out 15 hits in a 17-9 win against Frisco Liberty.
Maleia Newland and Devon Duran had homers for the Farmers, while Valerie Anzaldua started in the circle and earned the win.
“I think that against Poteet we weren’t being very patient,” Alexander said. “But, we hit the ball much better against Liberty.”
The Farmers continue in the tournament today with games at 11 a.m. (Denton Guyer), 3 p.m. (Frisco Wakeland) and 5 p.m. (Burleson).
