Softball: Lewisville rebounds against Trimble Tech
BY JUSTIN THOMAS, Staff writer
Lewisville broke out of a recent funk Tuesday as the Farmers topped Fort Worth Trimble Tech in a non-district game, 5-0.
The win came following a weekend in which the Farmers went 1-5 in the Frisco Tournament.
“We really needed a win tonight after the weekend,” said Lewisville coach Lori Alexander. “We only made one error on defense. We changed up our approach at the plate a little bit and were able to hit better when we had chances.”
Krysta O’Neal earned the win, striking out seven batters.
“She had good control and was hitting her spots,” Alexander said. “The umpire was giving her the corners and when that happens we can really do well.”
Amanda Scott had a double and RBI, while Valerie Anzaldua went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Devon Duran also added a hit and RBI, while Ashleigh Rye had the other hit.
Saturday, Lewisville lost three games at the Frisco ISD Tournament. The Farmers had previously lost two of its first three games in the tournament Thursday and Friday.
Lewisville lost its first game Saturday against Denton Guyer, 9-0. O’Neal started in the circle and took the loss. The Farmers were outhit, 10-2. Ashley Reyes and Anzaldua had hits for the Farmers.
Frisco Wakeland handed the Farmers their second loss of the day. Wakeland outhit Lewisville — who had hits by Maleia Newland and Scott — 11-2, on their way to a 10-0 win.
The tournament concluded with a loss against Burleson, 15-4. Haley Howerton, Scott, Reyes and Valerie Elman had the Farmers’ hits.
Lewisville continues at 7 p.m. with a non-district game against Prosper.
