Trio indicted in connection with Frisco man’s murder
By Ann Marie Shambaugh and Josh Hixson, Staff Writers
A Collin County grand jury Friday indicted the three people accused of Frisco’s only murder in 2007.
Mark Lyle Bell, Thomas Edward Grace, and Vera Elizabeth Guthrie-Nail were indicted for capital murder charges in connection with the murder of Vera Elizabeth Guthrie-Nail’s estranged husband Craig Nail.
Bell allegedly killed Craig Nail at his home in the 8500 block of Pebblebrook Drive on Dec. 26, 2007. He was arrested in McKinney on Jan. 28 on outstanding Frisco traffic tickets.
Police found Craig Nail’s body in his home after his girlfriend, who was non-fatally shot in the incident, called for help from a neighbor’s house.
Craig Nail and Vera Elizabeth Guthrie-Nail were in the middle of a divorce and custody battle over their daughter at the time of the murder.
Frisco Police Department Sgt. Gerald Meadors said the indictments were one of the steps toward a conviction based on the department’s investigative work.
“We said from the start that when we made the arrests the case wasn’t over,” Meadors said. “We still have a job to do, this is still an investigation and we still have to get (convictions).”
